How the EARP Came About
The EARP was formed in 2002 in order to take relocation training to a new level.
The Association of Relocation Agents (ARA) in the UK had been providing training to its members and to newcomers to the industry for some years.
The European Relocation Association (EuRA) had also provided training as part of its’ conference programme, as had the Syndicat Nationale de Professionels de Relocation et la Mobilite (SNPRM) in France and the recently formed Association of Belgian Relocation Agents. These four bodies became the Founder Members of the EARP.
What was needed was a unified approach to providing training to the relocation industry across Europe.
A steering group was formed by the ARA and EuRA to look at the logistics of drawing up a syllabus that could apply to the industry in any European country and by May 2003, this syllabus was ready to be used for the first time.
The EARP was set up as a European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG). This organisational structure allows for a greater flexibility both financially and structurally as it is aimed directly at organisations which transcend national barriers.
Under the rules of the EEIG, an Executive Board was brought together to run the company. The members of this Board are representatives of the four Founder Members of the EARP.
